Eighth grade. maybe? But I find it pretty easy to accept the existence of God in a movie like Of Gods and Men the same way I accept zombies in a movie like Train to Busan or the way I accept letters of transit in a movie like Casablanca.Tonyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17921029597363212734noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3166297507174717122.post-73928298268360996372017-08-21T21:51:24.695-05:002017-08-21T21:51:24.695-05:00I found the film moving, but as a religious hereti...I found the film moving, but as a religious heretic/apostate, I find movies like this difficult. I look at this, and while a part of me understands the motivation, the rest of me thinks, "You're dying for something that is so obviously untrue..."SJHoneywellhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13550007053995112090noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3166297507174717122.post-84917899294685865842017-08-19T15:56:17.846-05:002017-08-19T15:56:17.846-05:00I watched Of Gods and Men this morning, and it'...I watched Of Gods and Men this morning, and it's really an amazing film!

But I was a little annoyed because I recognized Luc but couldn't place him. I was sure he had at least one major role in a huge film, yet I still couldn't place him at all. When it was over, I looked at IMDB and he's in The Name of the Rose, Munich and Jefferson in Paris.

Also, he played Drax in Moonraker!Tonyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17921029597363212734noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3166297507174717122.post-22381365016970844322017-08-19T15:51:50.297-05:002017-08-19T15:51:50.297-05:00I loved the Swan Lake segment as well. I keep a list of movies that utilize Swan Lake, from Dracula and The Mummy and I Was an Adventuress to A Woman Under the Influence and Black Swan, and I very much enjoy the amazing things that are done with Swan Lake in cinema.

And Of Gods and Men was no exception. The Swan Lake scene really is surprisingly moving, not strictly from the music, but because we can see the men going through a range of emotions as they sit and listen. It's made all the more powerful by the lack of speech.SJHoneywellhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13550007053995112090noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3166297507174717122.post-37776838902044369612012-01-13T07:21:59.546-06:002012-01-13T07:21:59.546-06:00It's a beautiful film. The other one is the ending, a soft fading away rather than dwelling on blood and gore. It was perfect.

It's prety great with movies that manage to keep your interest up all the way through, even when you know on before hand what the outcome in since it's based on real events. Same thing as with 127 hours. You know the outcome and yet you want to see the way how to get there.Jessicahttp://www.thevelvetcafe.wordpress.comnoreply@blogger.com
