It's one that I can't recommend for real because it would forever change the way people look at me. I've been a fan of his since I first saw the Jungle Boy and the tennis shoe wearing computer of Disney fame. It's the same thing, but with explosions and a lot of slow motion, which Anderson seems to love far too much. It's not like I can seriously recommend it, but there is something I find very appealing about it, and specifcally about Todd 3465.SJHoneywellhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13550007053995112090noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3166297507174717122.post-31561405775542199072020-08-23T19:13:14.608-05:002020-08-23T19:13:14.608-05:00I've tried with Lanthimos but I'm beginnin...I've tried with Lanthimos but I'm beginning to feel he's not for me despite employing some actors I really like (Rachel Weisz and Colin Farrell) regularly. The Favourite was passable but I was befuddled by The Lobster. This one doesn't even sound appealing nor intriguing.

Soldier! God I haven't thought of that movie in years. My buddy and I made a special after work trip to see it in the theatre. We started to worry when there were only four other people for a 7:00 show on a Friday night and as it unspooled it became clear why. Kurt was in great shape and I'm always down for Jason Isaacs but the thing was so nonsensical I quickly lost interest. It was actiony but I haven't watched it since then. joel65913https://www.blogger.com/profile/14526657073681774683noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3166297507174717122.post-8105445785833471542020-08-23T16:23:48.677-05:002020-08-23T16:23:48.677-05:00My calling Paul W.S. There's not a cliche available that that movie doesn't attempt to capitalize on. Some of that is the screenplay, but some of it is absolutely Anderson.

Don't get me wrong, though--I like Anderson's movies probalby more than they deserve. Mortal Kombat isn't good, but it's a lot of fun, and Event Horizon is genuinely a good movie. And even in something as cliched and trashy as Pompeii, the big moments do have that sense of spectacle. It really wants to be Gladiator, but it's more of a sword-and-sandals Titanic, but those moments really do look good.

And, honestly, I have a soft spot for Sean Pertwee.SJHoneywellhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13550007053995112090noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3166297507174717122.post-40529849362549324172020-08-23T16:18:38.819-05:002020-08-23T16:18:38.819-05:00I still haven't seen The Killing of a Sacred D...I still haven't seen The Killing of a Sacred Deer but I want to as I liked what I've seen from Lanthimos so far.

Soldier is a film I do like as Paul W.S. Anderson does have his moments. I don't consider him to be a hack. He's actually a lot more talented than the likes of Michael Bay, Uwe Boll, McG and other big-budget filmmakers who can't direct for shit. This was a film that never took itself seriously and I respect that. Plus, Kurt Russell is awesome in this.thevoid99https://www.blogger.com/profile/03055459287396592446noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3166297507174717122.post-48149420515959224102020-08-23T12:40:40.287-05:002020-08-23T12:40:40.287-05:00Don't let me dissuade you--I'm hugely in t...Don't let me dissuade you--I'm hugely in the minority on TKoaSD. There's something in the style that clearly rubs me the wrong way, but a lot of people seem to really like the fact that Lanthimos makes his actors perform in that deadpan style.

I watch Soldier every year at least once.
