Some do, of course--Ghost Busters is still as good as it ever was.

I watched Stripes again not that long ago and was really disappointed in it. This is a problem for many of the good films from the 80s--many are way too time-warped. Still, BHC was a massive hit in the 80s because it was funny and entertaining. I think Money's career started to go downhill with Boomerang and his foray into family comedies just diminish how good he was at his peak.Kimberly J.M. I don't know why. It just never came to the top of the heap, I guess.

When I did see it, I enjoyed it. Adding to your opening, believe it or not, there was a time when Judge Reinhold was a recognizable, bankable star. It was from about 1982 (Fast Times at Ridgemont High) to 1987 (Beverly Hills Cop 2). Somewhere many years later, possibly on one of David E. Kelley's legal TV shows, one of the judges' nameplates said "Judge Reinhold" on it and I was the only person watching who got the joke and laughed.Chip Laryhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00787403805554027107noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3166297507174717122.post-64888844388348271332012-09-06T11:02:05.766-05:002012-09-06T11:02:05.766-05:00"Phil, you change, man!""Phil, you change, man!"Kevin Kimhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01328790917314282058noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3166297507174717122.post-14457699237997578842012-09-06T09:21:01.444-05:002012-09-06T09:21:01.444-05:00And then it all went south. I still love this film.

In fact, I was about 10 minutes in last night and my wife walked through the room, figured out what I was watching, and got very upset with me. I don't think the comedy has aged at all because it plays on stereotypes that are still valid today - Eddie Murphy plays heavily on the fact that he is black in many of his films, and rightly embraces the stereotypes for comedic effect.

Admittedly, younger people may remember his poorer films, but early Eddie Murphy still rocks.Edward Hallhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09637587378401967338noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3166297507174717122.post-14702532961284890592012-09-06T00:39:45.469-05:002012-09-06T00:39:45.469-05:00I can vividly imagine how dated it must be. I have no idea if that too would feel dated today. Comedy ages so badly, sadly enough.Jessicahttp://www.thevelvetcafe.wordpress.comnoreply@blogger.com
