One of the things I enjoy most about doing this is rediscovering a film like this one.SJHoneywellhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13550007053995112090noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3166297507174717122.post-7169888572994003562014-02-06T23:21:58.725-06:002014-02-06T23:21:58.725-06:00I tend to forget about Frost/Nixon, and that isn&#...I tend to forget about Frost/Nixon, and that isn't fair. Langella is so good as Nixon, and it's a tense and well-written film. It's definitely in the conversation among Howard's best films, though it would be hard to dethrone Cinderella Man for me. This may be Ron Howard's best film, and if it isn't it's damn close to his best film.

What I remember most about Watergate is, like you, that the shows I watched were all pre-empted for old guys sitting around and talking. I didn't really get it, but what 5-year-old really understands politics?SJHoneywellhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13550007053995112090noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3166297507174717122.post-14824386959215188282014-02-06T20:06:04.827-06:002014-02-06T20:06:04.827-06:00Like you, I'm old enough to remember that the ...Like you, I'm old enough to remember that the Watergate hearings were on TV, but not old enough to really know what was going on. I mostly remember them because they took the place of the syndicated shows I used to watch in the afternoons after school. I didn't actually remember that there were interviews of Nixon until this film came out and jogged my memory. I sure I didn't watch them because I wouldn't have been old enough to have any interest.

Also like you, I found this film quite interesting. I agree that it hangs on the performances of Sheen and Langella. There's some good writing in it, too.Chip Laryhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00787403805554027107noreply@blogger.com
