I can see the Jarmusch comparison as well.

I don't object to the List having a Hal Hartley film, but it really needed only one, and Trust is a better film.SJHoneywellhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13550007053995112090noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3166297507174717122.post-17651005795285107302017-11-11T15:57:10.756-06:002017-11-11T15:57:10.756-06:00I watched The Unbelievable Truth this morning and ...I watched The Unbelievable Truth this morning and I seemed to have liked it quite a bit more than you did. Which doesn't mean that I am not a little baffled about why it's on the List.

One thing I liked about it was how I never knew what was going to happen. I was pretty sure that somebody was going to get really mad and kill somebody. I'm not sure I was surprised by the ending, but I was very relieved by it.

I was going to the movies a lot in the late 1980s and early and 1990s, and I certainly remember that Hal Hartley was a bit of a critical darling for a while, but I don't think I ever saw any of his movies. There must be somebody among the editors who is a really big fan.

The Unbelievable Truth reminds me of a Jim Jarmusch film, without any jokes. Which isn't a criticism (I said I liked it) as much as an observation. Tonyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17921029597363212734noreply@blogger.com
