So I long ago got out of the habit of checking it. But it strikes me as RIDICULOUS that I still haven't seen Report (1967) despite its 13-minute running time. So I was making the rounds and looking for it again and striking out. But I decided to give the Compendium ONE LAST CHANCE!

And the link for Report works!

So I finally watched Report today!

It's a small victory for me. Almost two years ago, I got an edition of the Book (the edition with movies up to 2007) from the library and I decided to flip through and make a list for myself of all the movies I hadn't seen that are less than 70 minutes. So I ended up with a list of 19 movies, and through most of 2016 and part of 2017, I would occasionally see which of the short films I could find.

I got it down to three late last year. A few nights ago, I had about an hour before going to bed and I decided to take another crack at finding The War Game. It's on Vimeo! Which reminded me that I haven't looked for the others for a while ... and Tongues Untied was on YouTube, added in January 2018!

Which just left Report ... and now I've seen that too!

I interpret Conner's subliminal editing to mean that he believes that the Vatican was behind the assassination, using mysterious rays developed by Swiss scientists in the early 1800s, with the dirty work in Dallas performed by Corsican matadors! (I would love to see this scenario as a film with the same cast as Oliver Stone's JFK, with Wes Anderson directing.)Tonyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17921029597363212734noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3166297507174717122.post-86067585244390395082012-11-15T00:31:20.504-06:002012-11-15T00:31:20.504-06:00There are a number of films that I think should be...There are a number of films that I think should be in the book that aren't because of cultural impact. The Zapruder film is a damn good call. My guess is that it didn't make The List because it's not a produced film, but something that happened almost by accident. For sheer importance, though, I agree completely.

That said, I thought this was a pretty interesting piece of film.SJHoneywellhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13550007053995112090noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3166297507174717122.post-15821321756568121082012-11-14T20:53:06.816-06:002012-11-14T20:53:06.816-06:00My guess for why this was included is that it is a...My guess for why this was included is that it is an exercise in film editing, not film making, especially since every second was "found" footage. My reaction to it was "why the hell is this film in the 1001 Movies list when it would seem to me a far more fitting film to have there related to the Kennedy assassination would be the Zapruder film, especially with the role it has played in the history of the event?"Chip Laryhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00787403805554027107noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3166297507174717122.post-29993251639082722322012-11-14T12:24:03.698-06:002012-11-14T12:24:03.698-06:00It's worth your 13 minutes. It appears on YouTube from time to time and always say I'm going to watch it because it is so short. Glad to know it isn't one of those LSD infused docs from that period (see Dog Star Man).Kimberly J.M.
