Because it was a musical I was expecting something happy about young romance. As for My Fair Lady, I love the songs in it, but I hated the Professor. Even though I knew it was going to happen, I didn't want to see Hepburn's character end up with him. She deserved a lot better. I have never actually seen any of the versions of A Star is Born.Chip Laryhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00787403805554027107noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3166297507174717122.post-62883045604268536382012-06-21T18:19:23.781-05:002012-06-21T18:19:23.781-05:00I'm surprised at the number of musicals I real...I'm surprised at the number of musicals I really like. I honestly don't remember the scene with the black bartender. Perhaps I saw a version with that removed (like how some copies of Holiday Inn remove the blackface scene.)Chip Laryhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00787403805554027107noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3166297507174717122.post-34989307584033171082012-06-20T10:14:20.479-05:002012-06-20T10:14:20.479-05:00I liked The Lady Eve. I can see not liking it, though--it's predictable and falls into a lot of the same traps that films of this era do.

@Colby--I missed that, but I'm not surprised that that's there. Yes, there were some clever lines and the scene of Fonda taking off Stanwyck's shoe is pure sex, but that wasn't enough to save the awful movie. Have you done or will you do The Lady Eve?Retro Houndhttp://www.retrohound.com/noreply@blogger.com
