It's all about the creation of an atmosphere with him, and <i>Crimson Peak</i> may be his most atmospheric film. <br /><br />I also really like how he uses monsters and creatures. They're always important to the film, but they never detract from the human part of the story. I agree about the reveal, and f...I really liked it. I agree about the reveal, and for a moment I thought it was going to be even more explicit than it was. The production design and costumes were the real stars, as was the sound; the various slurps, groans, scrapes and crunches were visceral and effective. I am glad I saw it at the cinema; the details of the house were on full display. <br /><br />A good example of gothic horror, which is probably my second favourite horror sub-genre (first is body horror).
