I've pretty much forgotten the details of it by now except that it's not worth going back to it to remember those details.SJHoneywellhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13550007053995112090noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3166297507174717122.post-14098698186814025862016-02-04T23:14:25.389-06:002016-02-04T23:14:25.389-06:00Ugh I just found this on YouTube and only watched ...Ugh I just found this on YouTube and only watched because of the fact that Chatterton was nominated, and to see the young Fredric March. Well March was okay though the role challenged him not one iota but the rest of it stank.

Chatterton is one of those stars who for me doesn't translate over the years. I know she was an enormous star of the early talkie period but for the life of me I can't see why. Her flutey diction and grand manner is hopelessly arch. The only two films I've ever seen of hers that I thought were decent were "Female", that was more to do with the concept and execution of the picture than her work in it, and Dodsworth where her affectations worked for the character and Walter Huston and Mary Astor were far better than she.joel65913https://www.blogger.com/profile/14526657073681774683noreply@blogger.com
