And yeah, I think Hitch has more than one too many. I don't thin...Even Hitchcock has one too many!

I don't think you can have too many Kurosawa films.

And I'm tempted to say you can't have too much Ingmar Bergman, but then I remember how much I don't like Persona and Hour of the Wolf. Is Hour of the Wolf on the List?)Tonyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17921029597363212734noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3166297507174717122.post-49738942503707907862017-07-11T16:21:17.693-05:002017-07-11T16:21:17.693-05:00I think that could be said of a lot of directors w...I think that could be said of a lot of directors who have a couple too many movies on the List.SJHoneywellhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13550007053995112090noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3166297507174717122.post-86302072746487187522017-07-07T13:16:07.089-05:002017-07-07T13:16:07.089-05:00I liked this well enough. Kline, Weaver, Wood, but especially Katie Holmes and Christina Ricci!

But ... I'm not real clear that it should be on the List. One of the List editors must like Ang Lee as much as another editor likes Robert Flaherty.Tonyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17921029597363212734noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3166297507174717122.post-68387989260103161102013-04-02T21:39:03.841-05:002013-04-02T21:39:03.841-05:00Yeah, it drags for me in the middle pretty serious...Yeah, it drags for me in the middle pretty seriously. The last time I watched it, which was a few years ago, I remember thinking, Okay, I get it.

Still a fan of the movie, but your point got me to thinking, is all.Alex Withrowhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15887018476048271594noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3166297507174717122.post-81671633444182235482013-03-28T22:18:57.601-05:002013-03-28T22:18:57.601-05:00I don't think they were incredibly common, but...I don't think they were incredibly common, but I don't doubt they happened. The key party in this one at least offered people the ability to accept or decline, and I rather liked the one woman who found her husband's keys and left with him.SJHoneywellhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13550007053995112090noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3166297507174717122.post-74215262352871378322013-03-28T14:38:21.634-05:002013-03-28T14:38:21.634-05:00I saw this way back when it came out for far diffe...I saw this way back when it came out for far different reasons. I had just watched the first season of Dawson's Creek (remember that?) and I had read that Katie Holmes had her first movie role in The Ice Storm. Curious, I rented it.

Like you I found myself not really caring that much about these people, even when the tragedy occurred.

As for key parties, I don't doubt that some people did them somewhere in the 70s - probably L.A. - but I highly doubt they were ever as widespread as Hollywood has tried to make them look. (Other movies, and even a short lived TV show, have featured them as things as common as Tupperware parties.)Chip Laryhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00787403805554027107noreply@blogger.com
