I was pulled in right from the start and was kind of peeved when I had some business to take care of for the pet rescue organization I volunteer for. (A kitten that had surgery on Thursday developed an infection and had to go back to the vet. Not serious! We took care of it before it got serious. He's a sweet little fellow named Loki.)

So I had to watch the last 2/3 of the movie three hours after I watched the first 30 minutes. I do it all the time, but I'm not usually as anxious to find out what happens next!

I'm not sure I absolutely needed to see it before I die, but it was certainly one of the most notable movies of 2005. My favorite movie of 2005 was a tie between Domino and Pride and Prejudice, but I can definitely see why many people might prefer Tsotsi. It's appropriate enough. The other endings, not as much.SJHoneywellhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13550007053995112090noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3166297507174717122.post-28431221461652800452013-04-20T11:29:54.280-05:002013-04-20T11:29:54.280-05:00I liked this film as well. I also agree that he started out very unlikable, but eventually changed enough that I could empathize with him some.

Jay mentioned hating the ending. There are actually three endings on the DVD, covering the various ways the final scene could have played out. They said why they went with the one they did, but I can't remember why.

As for Wolverine, I liked it well enough. It was a step down from the last two X-Men movies Jackman was in, though.Chip Laryhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00787403805554027107noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3166297507174717122.post-4316359804456310402013-04-19T07:04:29.500-05:002013-04-19T07:04:29.500-05:00Having only seen it the once, I can't comment ...Having only seen it the once, I can't comment on a rewatch. You may be right, because the stereotypes managed to go past me without my noticing on an initial viewing.

I never saw the Wolverine film, and the more I hear people talk about it, the happier I am that I skipped it.SJHoneywellhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13550007053995112090noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3166297507174717122.post-20365479581611076552013-04-19T02:43:18.680-05:002013-04-19T02:43:18.680-05:00I really appreciated this film the first time I wa...I really appreciated this film the first time I watched it, but subsequent viewings have diminished it. The cartoonish stereotypes of the gang members got on my nerves (the smart one, the angry one, the fat one) and I'm no longer satisfied with the ending. Still, as you say, the performances are great, and it's an awful lot better than Gavin Hood's second film - X:Men Origins Wolverine, which is quite dreadful.JayCluitthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16972011198109066985noreply@blogger.com
