It'll depend on when I have the time to watch a 2 1/2 hour movie that isn't in English.SJHoneywellhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13550007053995112090noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3166297507174717122.post-78531646895923238382017-08-26T19:08:30.931-05:002017-08-26T19:08:30.931-05:00I forgot to mention that even though I said I want...I forgot to mention that even though I said I wanted to see all the new movies on the List by Sept. 1, they were all readily available, so I watched them all by the first weekend in August. I especially liked Under the Shadow, Jackie and Jungle Book.

Toni Erdmann is the real wild card here, and it's really not the kind of movie that I can figure out who to recommend it to. It's a unique experience. It's very long, and for me, it dragged a bit early on, but the last 30 or 40 minutes are just so strange that suddenly, I was rather unexpectedly hooked into a movie that I had been vaguely interested in at times but also feeling a little marginal about.

My friend who sees bunches of European movies at the theater when they come out was very enthusiastic about Toni Erdmann when I mentioned it. He seemed very surprised that I had seen it.Tonyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17921029597363212734noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3166297507174717122.post-38386565010114426812017-08-25T15:10:49.634-05:002017-08-25T15:10:49.634-05:00A Separation is a wonderful movie. I tend to like Iranian movies and South Korean movies as a rule.SJHoneywellhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13550007053995112090noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3166297507174717122.post-4123012812552711672017-08-25T15:01:58.826-05:002017-08-25T15:01:58.826-05:00I watched Under the Shadow with my horror-fan niec...I watched Under the Shadow with my horror-fan niece a day or two after you posted that it was on Netflix. I loved it! A really good supernatural movie, really subtle, using Iran's history and legends as themes. My niece seemed to like it too.

I'm really starting to get into Iranian film, even though I've only seen a few, like A Separation and Offside. (Persepolis isn't an Iranian film but it's another good one about the region.)

The library has The Salesman but it's a one-day rental and I hate having to get them back the next day. I'm waiting for it become a three-day rental. Tonyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17921029597363212734noreply@blogger.com
