For that he got divine power. It sort of fits with Carrie.TSorensenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12208153011927807857noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3166297507174717122.post-22830506439010791712012-11-01T23:24:38.593-05:002012-11-01T23:24:38.593-05:00Certainly not in this way. While certainly not an exact image of high school, it isn't that far off either. The cruelty inflicted amongst students is truly frightening. I suppose there are really two types of horror in Carrie - prom night vengeful telekinesis, and all-too-real bullying that students endure every day. I'm not sure about this, but did we have a big title film that dealt bluntly with bullying before Carrie? I don't think so, but I could be wrong.siochembiohttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11487373396181856763noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3166297507174717122.post-45573031129989174712012-10-31T12:59:40.491-05:002012-10-31T12:59:40.491-05:00@Ken--there are films that could stand updating. W...@Ken--there are films that could stand updating. While I'm not always excited about remakes, I understand why some of them get made. The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo is a bad example, though, because it was made so soon after the original it really did feel unnecessary.

@Adol and Chip--I see that. I did call this an after-school special for the first hour or so, and I think that fits. The end really is good, though. Because of this I found myself a little bored, waiting for it to get the part I knew was coming. This affected my enjoyment of this movie. It felt like the filmmakers had their idea for the killer prom scene, and quickly fashioned the rest of the movie together for the sole purpose of getting the audience to that scene, and for no other reason; there was very little care and attention to the film as a whole, it was just "every little thing is just to get us to that prom scene". I know it's based on a book, which I haven't read, so this might be a fairly accurate adaptation, but then I'd be saying the exact same things about Stephen King and his own prom scene. This just didn't feel like a complete film to me.Adolytsihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12266038228108057617noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3166297507174717122.post-47863055611936400242012-10-31T11:19:36.744-05:002012-10-31T11:19:36.744-05:00If we were to go with the idea that a book, once m...If we were to go with the idea that a book, once made into a movie is off limits for future generations to reimage, what would ever have become of Christopher Lee. John Carpenter would not have made "The Thing". Is it really necessary for David Fincher to make "The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo"?
