The disconnect is the problem of the movie.
I am afraid I saw very little beauty in the movie, but a director cares little for his story and too much about his symbols.
TSorensenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12208153011927807857noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3166297507174717122.post-56450920062512815322013-09-11T22:13:42.675-05:002013-09-11T22:13:42.675-05:00Because of the aforementioned way the donkey was t...Because of the aforementioned way the donkey was treated in real life for the filming, this isn't a movie I cared for.Chip Laryhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00787403805554027107noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3166297507174717122.post-5383076899058425352013-09-10T18:53:16.480-05:002013-09-10T18:53:16.480-05:00Oh, I get it. I'm not a fan of animal cruelty either (reference the paragraphs above), so it will be a long time before I ever see this again, if I ever do.

But it is undeniably powerful.SJHoneywellhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13550007053995112090noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3166297507174717122.post-63455039364899508452013-09-10T17:27:06.381-05:002013-09-10T17:27:06.381-05:00Sigh. I don't think it's Bresson's best - or at least, it's not my favorite Bresson, I'll clarify that statement - but there is no denying Balthazar's power. I cannot think about the final scene of this film without crying (even typing that sentence has got the tears welling up).

But you know me and animals and animal cruelty and my utter inability to watch films dealing with any of that.

Hence the gigantic pile of NOPE.siochembiohttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11487373396181856763noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3166297507174717122.post-59152570821608678662013-09-10T07:06:41.318-05:002013-09-10T07:06:41.318-05:00Very hard.
