You are right of course, this ride with death is spectacular filmmaking. I just wish I had a proper copy of the movie :-(
TSorensenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12208153011927807857noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3166297507174717122.post-18343145749904464942014-01-10T08:37:01.104-06:002014-01-10T08:37:01.104-06:00I think I get where you're coming from. I'm not 100% on board with you, but I'm closer to you than I was when I watched this.

I still wish for a different ending, though.SJHoneywellhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13550007053995112090noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3166297507174717122.post-58493279311695572002014-01-10T07:26:26.852-06:002014-01-10T07:26:26.852-06:00Great write-up. Good to hear that LD is also a contender for his best ever! If it's 90% as good as La Salaire, I'll be perfectly satisfied.

My only difference of opinion with your take on the flick is that I thought the ending was totally in keeping with the rest of the movie. It's hard to prove that point without referring to specific spoilers, and since your review didn't, I won't either. But I wouldn't call it w-t-f; thematically and philosophically the movie was pretty consistent right through to the end. Which doesn't negate the fact that it is a rough ending, and could leave you with that hollow feeling you mentioned. I just would attribute that feeling to the viewpoint of the entire movie, not an out-of-nowhere final moment.

- Sunny D
Dale Glaserhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13720028364651179526noreply@blogger.com
