One of my favorite movie moments ever occurs near the end.

The troops are marching to Fort Wagner between columns of white Union Soldiers and one of the white soldiers, who earlier in the film had treated them badly, yells out "Give 'em hell, 54th!" and the white troops cheer. It's the emotional high point of the movie.

I know it's manipulative but it gets me every time. I'm tearing up just thinking about it.Ipecachttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15157560182505626755noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3166297507174717122.post-5272253728190111402012-02-28T19:50:03.737-06:002012-02-28T19:50:03.737-06:00Good review. I did know going in that the character he was playing was very young, so his casting was appropriate to the role, but I still couldn't quite take him seriously precisely because he looked so young. His age does lend itself well to some of the foolish decisions he made (like the last one), but I felt Freeman and Washington were the real meat of the film.Chip Laryhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00787403805554027107noreply@blogger.com
