The Barefoot Contessa was on AMC, I think, and I thought it was OK but I didn't think it was such a great movie. I remember being a bit surprised a few years ago when I noticed it was on the List.

I should probably see it again. I'm sure I would get a lot more out of it. At this point, I can't remember a single thing I didn't like about it.

What I do remember is the MAD magazine version, which was published in a reprint about ten years after I saw that movie. Art by Jack Davis, who manages some wonderful likenesses of Bogart and Gardner and some of the others. OMG it's funny! I smile whenever The Barefoot Contessa is mentioned because the first thing I think of is the MAD version.Tonyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17921029597363212734noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3166297507174717122.post-79081159422340975112015-08-04T13:12:17.958-05:002015-08-04T13:12:17.958-05:00This is also one of the first times I genuinely li...This is also one of the first times I genuinely liked Ava Gardner. That's noteworthy in and of itself, I think. What you did not mention is that it was beautifully filmed by the master of Technicolor himself, Jack Cardiff. That is actually enough for me to pay attention. Add to that Bogart and this is almost in the bag.TSorensenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12208153011927807857noreply@blogger.com
