I haven't seen A Serbian Film and pro...I agree. I haven't seen A Serbian Film and probably never will. There are places I won't go, after all, even if I did eventually go here. Hostel isn't worse than Salo, though, and Salo did far more damage to my psyche than the adolescent jerk off material of Eli Roth ever will. What's fucked up here isn't the film itself or even the idea behind the film. It's that there's a market for other people's misery, even simulated. Neither of these films are close to the most upsetting thing I've seen in a movie.

No, my problem with them is that they are utterly pointless. Come and See was a much harder watch in so many respects. If I lived to be 250, I probably wouldn't consent to watch it again, but I'm happy I did see it, because even though it was horrifying and brutal and absolutely repellent in almost every aspect, there's a point to it. It has something to say more than, "Look! Tits and icky shit!"

I'm offended by Hostel et al. not because they are horrifying and gross but because they are pointless, crass and banal. Salo is fu...To me, Hostel isn't even fucked up. Salo is fucked up. A Serbian Film is fucked up. This... is just not interesting. The first half of Hostel is softcore porn and zero story. The second half of the movie is fake-looking torture. That eye sequence? It looked so stupidly fake, even for its time. The ONLY thing I liked about Hostel was the "prison break" sequence, aka the last 10-15 minutes when Jay Hernandez is escaping the compound. That had some legitimate tension because it wasn't focused on the blood and gore (except the eyeball). Hostel II is just the first film, but with girls.

I also can't stand Eli Roth. He's like the Drake of the film industry.Nickhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08092564511948736386noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3166297507174717122.post-40806119373451421772018-01-31T19:40:08.802-06:002018-01-31T19:40:08.802-06:00Yeah, this is pretty f*cked up right here.Yeah, this is pretty f*cked up right here.Ipecachttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15157560182505626755noreply@blogger.com
