I understand wanting her to see a way out, but I think that's the point. She doesn't have a way out. If she leaves her husband...where does she go? I think she's so buried by everything and everyone that all she has is what she has.

It's bleak, and I think that's kind of the point.SJHoneywellhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13550007053995112090noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3166297507174717122.post-5199449530931986312016-12-01T21:49:30.743-06:002016-12-01T21:49:30.743-06:00I had wanted to see this for years because it was ...I had wanted to see this for years because it was one of the few best actress nominees that I hadn't been able to track down and finally found it a few months ago on YouTube. And I sat there thinking "I waited years for this? These people are awful!!"

Except for Tina who just made me sad. She was obviously intelligent but so beaten down she let her own children treat her like dirt. Then she takes one small step for herself and picks a guy who is nearly as bad as that noxious lump of nothing that she's married to. Then when that jackass basically ruined their lives she props him up!!! GRRR! It just all pissed me off to the point of throwing things at the screen. I really felt that the writer hated the lead character. There probably are sad women like her but if you're going to make a movie about one you should at least show the audience there can ultimately be a way out of the trap otherwise what's the point.

The ONLY thing that had any redeeming value was Carrie Snodgress's performance. She made you stay involved in the story but I don't know if it was ultimately worth it.

How ironic about the she and Young and the song.joel65913https://www.blogger.com/profile/14526657073681774683noreply@blogger.com
