It's needlessly gory in the sense that the gore doesn't add anything to the movie, but you could do a lot worse.SJHoneywellhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13550007053995112090noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3166297507174717122.post-32661815425216829122020-02-01T08:35:32.133-06:002020-02-01T08:35:32.133-06:00I saw this for sale and was *immensely* confused. ...I saw this for sale and was *immensely* confused. The show bypassed me in childhood and I was only dimly aware of it having existed in adulthood when Liz Phair covered it on a compilation called Saturday Morning, which featured a bunch of mid-90s alt rockers doing classic kids TV themes. So when I saw this thing that I vaguely knew had been a kids show in the horror section, the letters W T and F leapt to mind. I mean, I know there's such a thing as the "gritty reboot", but this seemed to be... a bit extra. Tempted to watch it, though, after seeing some good notices for it.James Rhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02458973377509956909noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3166297507174717122.post-81606538944995376922020-01-23T16:40:02.115-06:002020-01-23T16:40:02.115-06:00Only by reputation.

I give it a lot of credit for trying, though.

I mean, the gore isn't needed, but it does have some moments.SJHoneywellhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13550007053995112090noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3166297507174717122.post-67721431424697533102020-01-23T08:10:57.294-06:002020-01-23T08:10:57.294-06:00That might be the case. I've only seen Kick-Ass once, and that was years ago, so I don't remember all of the details.

The gore here is disappointing because it's so unnecessary. I've never had a problem with gore when there's a point to it--this is just gratuitous and lowest common denominator stuff.SJHoneywellhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13550007053995112090noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3166297507174717122.post-44065595112131493842020-01-23T00:05:18.230-06:002020-01-23T00:05:18.230-06:00Didn't they have something like a callback to ...Didn't they have something like a callback to "Banana Splits" in the first "Kick-Ass"? The scene where Hit Girl first appears and massacres everyone in the room is overlaid with a "Banana Splits" soundtrack, if I recall correctly. That scene managed to be ultra-violent without being ultra-gory.Kevin Kimhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01328790917314282058noreply@blogger.com
