For all his star power, he didn't have that sort of gravitas on camera that someone like Spencer Tracy or Laurence Olivier could pull off. He's almost too genial and likable to be taken seriously for a serious award.

Don't get me wrong--I think he deserved a lot more nominations than he got and I'll watch pretty much anything with him in it. Comic actors still don't get the love they deserve come Oscar time, so it's hardly a problem that's gone away.SJHoneywellhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13550007053995112090noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3166297507174717122.post-11263444456630809762014-12-31T13:52:38.708-06:002014-12-31T13:52:38.708-06:00I liked this more than you did. So it's nice to see her in anything.

Why oh why did Cary Grant only get nominated for his lesser movies? Only Penny Serenade and None but the Lonely Heart.

If Humphrey Bogart had only been nominated for Knock on Any Door and Action in the North Atlantic, he probably wouldn't have any Oscars either.Tonyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17921029597363212734noreply@blogger.com
