There's something about his demeanor in this film that works really well despite the fact that he looks fresh out of junior high.SJHoneywellhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13550007053995112090noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3166297507174717122.post-13841763254510257852012-06-09T11:56:44.099-05:002012-06-09T11:56:44.099-05:00Decent early Mann chiller that works on the basis ...Decent early Mann chiller that works on the basis that ancient, imposing keeps in the middle of nowhere are scary (and they are). I can't help but agree about the special effects - we're lucky that the excessive use of smoke machines were confined to the 1980s. Gabriel Byrne might look a bit fresh faced in this but he makes for a pretty good Nazi, don't you think?Mikehttp://filmsonthebox.wordpress.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3166297507174717122.post-71482704753436909792012-06-06T07:47:16.709-05:002012-06-06T07:47:16.709-05:00I really like the Tangerine Dream soundtrack for T...I really like the Tangerine Dream soundtrack for Thief, but it's also a lot more appropriate for the film style.

This is a film that would have been vastly improved with a soundtrack by Goblin.SJHoneywellhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13550007053995112090noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3166297507174717122.post-25996484869793441602012-06-06T07:43:23.719-05:002012-06-06T07:43:23.719-05:00Oddly enough, I just watched this last week as wel...Oddly enough, I just watched this last week as well. Having remembered when it came out, interested at the time but just never found the time to go see it. I found it a bit disappointing. The Tangerine Dream soundtrack REALLY adds nothing. And it does sound so out of place here. I know Michael Mann used them again for his movie "Thief" Honestly it all sounds the same to me. However, there was a recent re-release of an Italian silent film "Inferno" from 1911 where Tangerine Dreams sound really did seem to add something.Ken Loarhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17207009680910318145noreply@blogger.com
