Going into this, I had expectations carried over from the original Fright Night and they were not met. Without those expectations, I think this is a decent (if not great) vampire movie.

Knowing the original, though, I think it's impossible not to be disappointed in this remake.

Excellent point about the two vampires. Sarandon's Jerry is genial and seductive because of it. Farrell's Jerry is the vampire equivalent of a men's rights activist.SJHoneywellhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13550007053995112090noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3166297507174717122.post-34173894461555778682019-11-28T10:25:57.045-06:002019-11-28T10:25:57.045-06:00As someone who is a fan of neither Farrell nor Lea...As someone who is a fan of neither Farrell nor Leary, I'd say that could go either direction.SJHoneywellhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13550007053995112090noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3166297507174717122.post-91564760988261425112019-11-28T05:21:48.375-06:002019-11-28T05:21:48.375-06:00This one disappointed me. At the top of the list for me is the fact that I wasn't drawn to any of the characters, Charlie included. More important than not caring about Charlie very much, I wasn't drawn to Farrell's Jerry the same way I was Sarandon's. Farrell isn't bad, but the character is written in a way that's off-putting while Sarandon's version was magnetic, making him intrinsically more dangerous. I can see people wanting to put themselves in harm's way, as opposed to the creepy kidnapper vibe Farrell was giving off.Dellhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05634519605152190304noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3166297507174717122.post-53766208142951884132019-11-25T04:14:11.597-06:002019-11-25T04:14:11.597-06:00Dude in the pic looks like Denis Leary having a ba...Dude in the pic looks like Denis Leary having a bad day. It's not as good as the first movie for me, but for someone who hadn't seen the original and didn't have that to compare this to, I could see liking it pretty well.SJHoneywellhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13550007053995112090noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3166297507174717122.post-16648434294809633342019-11-24T19:08:12.275-06:002019-11-24T19:08:12.275-06:00Like you, I love the original version.

I love David Tennant (big Dr. Who fan) but I miss the character being a local horror movie host, which is understandable in a modern retelling, but still. So, basically, the movie made me kind of sad. That was probably not the intent.
Ipecachttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15157560182505626755noreply@blogger.com
