Fish out of water comedies really only have one direction to go in. It was such a staple, a movie you could always put on and never get really tired of. Until, that is, the tape wore out and picture quality deteriorated from poor to hopeless.
The knife gag(s) is good, but the jokes stack up well and they are smart enough never to to get too silly. Thanks for the alert.

The shaving gag is funny, and since he just tucks the razor into his pants, it's pretty evident that she sees it and knows exactly what he's done. That just adds to the joke. He's doing it to maintain an image and she knows both the reality and the image.

There's a lot to like in this film, even if it doesn't really have a plot.SJHoneywellhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13550007053995112090noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3166297507174717122.post-75713741323434827722014-11-17T13:07:03.851-06:002014-11-17T13:07:03.851-06:00Note: your why to watch/not watch wasn't updat...Note: your why to watch/not watch wasn't updated from your last post, although it certainly applies.

"I own a copy of Crocodile Dundee, but it’s currently streaming on NetFlix. It was easier to just watch the stream than hook up the BluRay player and insert the disc and deal with all of that."

I think this is a perfect demonstration of Weird Al Yankovic's song "First World Problems". :-)

I liked this movie, although by the time I saw it the hype for it was so crazy that I did have a bit of a "that's it?" reaction.

The knife bit you mentioned is funny, but my favorite gag is a silent little bit with it earlier in the movie. They are still in the Australian outback. He's up in the morning shaving his face without any shaving cream or soap, but with a modern safety razor. He hears her coming and quickly puts the razor away, pulls out his huge knife, and starts to pretend to shave with that, all so he can continue to maintain his larger than life image.Chip Laryhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00787403805554027107noreply@blogger.com
