It helps that I'll pretty much watch Lee Marvin in just about anything.SJHoneywellhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13550007053995112090noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3166297507174717122.post-6437177441655278782014-11-19T18:06:14.507-06:002014-11-19T18:06:14.507-06:00Cat Ballou is so great! But I remember that it was temporarily my "new favorite movie" for a few weeks in the late 1990s.

I can't believe I've only seen it once. I think it's tied with Pretty Poison as Favorite Movie I've Only Seen Once.Tonyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17921029597363212734noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3166297507174717122.post-90279824369035920892014-11-19T14:56:08.289-06:002014-11-19T14:56:08.289-06:00Yeah, I'd agree that this is more a comedy tha...Yeah, I'd agree that this is more a comedy than a Western, but it's hard to not call it a Western at least in some sense.

I'm not sure I wanted to enjoy it in a different way. I guess I just wish there was more substance for me to enjoy.SJHoneywellhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13550007053995112090noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3166297507174717122.post-19432473456935797992014-11-19T13:47:26.327-06:002014-11-19T13:47:26.327-06:00It sounds like you enjoyed it, but wish you'd ...It sounds like you enjoyed it, but wish you'd enjoyed it for different reasons - at least that's what I took from this post.

I liked this movie a lot. I laughed quite a bit and I was amused by the musical interludes. I figure Marvin won for playing dual roles.

I wouldn't group this with westerns when thinking about where it ranks, though. Yes, it's obviously a western, but it's also a comedy. I wouldn't rank Tucker & Dale vs. Evil in with 28 Days Later, to use examples in another genre.

Of course, there aren't a whole lot of comedy westerns out there. Off the top of my head there's this one, Blazing Saddles, From Noon to Three, and this summer's A Million Ways to Die in the West, which I haven't seen.Chip Laryhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00787403805554027107noreply@blogger.com
