Month 32 Status Report

The goal for this month was to hit 25 films off the list, and by my count, I got 26, which is great. Even better, I got two of the longest remaining films for me, meaning that watching those long epics is getting shorter and shorter every month. I also did a few tough to find ones, again making this entire process easier.

This is important because the first couple of weeks of September are going to be difficult with work, which means my output will be far more limited than normal. This is also the month traditionally that sees a new edition of The Book, this time with probably a dozen new films and allegedly sporting Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy on the cover, which feels very much like an odd choice. So, not only will I probably fall short of the consistent goal of 25 films, it's likely that the list will crack 1,100 by month's end.

September will be as productive as I can make it. I need to focus more on foreign films when I have the chance, and I will likely continue to try to knock out a handful of earlier films every month. Beyond that, expect business as usual.

  2. Keep on trucking, man.

I'm back to school pretty much now, so I just can't be as productive as the summer either.

    1. Oh, and TTSS would definitely be a bit of an odd choice. Ah well. Hey, do YOU have an edition of The Book that has an entry for Cache? I'm trying to find one, but I can't and Squish can't either. I just saw it andim interested in reading the entry.

    2. Tinker Tailor? dammit, I watched it and haven't reviewed it yet. My edition (Avatar cover) doesn't have Cache in it, but I'll check my library too and see what I can find. Congrats on the high film count Steve.

    3. @siochembio - Cache was added in the 2006 Edition and was removed the next year, so that is the only book it appeared in. If you are interested, I just put up a comprehensive page of all changes in each edition on the 1001 wiki that Adolytsi and I created.

  3. I only have the 8th edition, so if it's not in there (and I don't think it is), I don't. My local library has a couple of early ones, so I'll look in the next couple of days.

  4. The new edition is set to be published October 1st, and indeed features TTSS on the cover; it's also a paperback edition:

    1. It seems like such an odd choice, a "we're not sure we want this edition to sell much" choice. They couldn't go with The Artist? Or go classic and use Casablanca?
