So it's award season again at the Large Association of Movie Blogs
, of which I am a dedicated (and now contributing) member (I'm #773). Every year, the LAMB hosts an award competition called The LAMMYs. There are 15 categories of awards with a several-week-long nomination process followed by a vote. Last year, I hadn't been a LAMB for that long, and I campaigned for myself a little. I didn't campaign that seriously, though, and while I got a couple of initial votes, I wasn't nominated for anything.
I'm okay with that. I've decided that this year I'm not campaigning at all. I'm not making a "for your consideration" poster and I'm not going to actively put my name out for people to come to nominate me for the various awards. That's not why I do this blog in the first place, and I won't change that for the chance at an award.
So, to all my fellow LAMBs, good luck.
Well you don't need to campaign to be remembered. You're included in my ballot. I don't comment on every review you write, but rest assured I appreciate them a lot!ReplyDelete
I've never campaigned before as, like you, that's not what I do the site for. But this year, since there is a blogathon category and its a community-based initiative, I wanted to get the word out there about my Houdini Magic Ticket so hopefully others could join in as well. I think it went down quite well too.ReplyDelete
Anyway, despite you not campaigning, like Jessica says, if a site is worthy it'll get noticed. Good luck!
I really enjoyed the Houdini Magic Ticket blogathon. Thanks for reminding me.Delete
Steve, you'll definitely be on my ballot for a few categories. You can't stop me!ReplyDelete
Ah, the classic "non-campaign" campaign. Well played. (wink wink)ReplyDelete
Seriously, though, I have you in mind for at least a couple of categories. I've never been through a set of Lammy voting before (I joined last summer), so I need to figure out what's what. I'll probably look at the last couple year's votes for a guide.
Actually, it's not a campaign at all. My motto has always been "If nominated, I will not run. If elected, I will not serve."Delete
Okay Mr. Johnson, I'll see your pop culture reference and raise you another - "You can call me Ray, or you can call me Jay, or you can call me RJ [SJ?], or you can call me RayJay, but you doesn't has to call me Johnson."Delete
Yeah, yeah. I really am completely serious.Delete
